"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Grandma's Cookie Jar
A jar of cream-ceramic
with a rattle to its likd
that was Grandma's homemade cookie jar
where all the goodies hid...
in every mode or season
tempting fragrances within
rose to tittilate the senses
causing appetite to win
in the springtime, sugar cookies
in the summer, no-bake balls
in the Autumn, apple fritters
Christmas gingerbread for all...
It was always stacked to brimming
many little hands were filled...
with reward from Grandma's kitchen
many little crumbs were spilled.....
there it sets upon the counter
just like in the days of old
waiting for someone to fill it
like the story that's been told
so, we'll keep that old tradition
see it work its charm again
the tale of Grandma's cookie jar
may never have to end.
(if only at Christmastime...)
