1 carrot chopped
1 onion chopped
1 rib of celery chopped
1 t crumbled dry sage
1/2 bay leaf
2 T butter
1 can pumpkin
4 1/2 cans chicken broth

Toast cut into shapes or pumpkin seeds or pomegranate seeds.

Directions:

Sauté first 5 ingredients in butter until soft. Salt and pepper to taste. Stir in pumpkin and broth, a little at a time.
Boil 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Blend until smooth. Correct seasonings.
