1 c soft shortening
2 c packed brown sugar
2 eggs
½ c water
½ tsp vanilla
3½ c flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
⅓ cinnamon

Date filling:
2 c dates, chopped into small pieces
¾ c sugar
¾ c water
½ c chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º. Mix well shortening, sugar, and eggs. Stir in water and vanilla. Sift together and stir in flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon. Drop with teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Place ½ teaspoon date filling on dough. Bake 10-12 minutes.

Mix all ingredients together in bowl.

"Blueberry Hill"
Aunt Georgia was raising blueberries one summer. She decided to try and make her first blueberry pie. Well, it didn't quite turn out as she had hoped. The pie was awful. Olive decided to dedicate a song to Georgia that she had called into the local radio station, "Blueberry Hill."
