Shred cabbage. Add other vegetables and mix. In a large bowl, mix salt, vinegar and sugar and let dissolve. Mix rest of ingredients with vinegar solution. Cover and put in refrigerator. This slaw is delicious and keeps up to 2 weeks or more, if desired. The longer it sets, the better it gets.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
"If you wanted to have a rockin' wedding (or circumcision) in Sudan a few decades ago, there was one band to call: "The Rare Stones." They charged on a sliding scale, so anyone could afford their services, whether you were serving your guests palm wine or Johnnie Walker Red. The Stones' lead singer also happened to be my mom, who'd honed her vocals growing up in New Liberty General Baptist Church in Coe, Indiana."--Dedicated to his mom, by Joel Batterman
