- 1 cup of finely chopped dates
- 1 cup of water
- 1 egg
- tsp. of vanilla extract
- tsp. of salt
- cup of butter
- cup of finely chopped walnuts
- 1 cups of flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder

- 3 tbsp. of milk
- 10 tbsp. of brown sugar
- 4 tbsp. of melted butter
- 1 cups of unsweetened coconut shavings

1. Boil the dates in the water.
2. Mix the dry ingredients together.
3. Add the egg, vanilla, salt, and dates to the dry ingredients.
4. Mix well, pour into a cake pan, and bake at 350 F for 25 minutes.
5. While the cake bakes, mix all the ingredients for the icing together.
6. Spread the icing on the cake once it has cooled.
