- 1 cup of finely chopped dates
- 1 cup of water
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp. of vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp. of salt
- ¼ cup of butter
- ½ cup of finely chopped walnuts
- 1½ cups of flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder

Icing:
- 3 tbsp. of milk
- 10 tbsp. of brown sugar
- 4 tbsp. of melted butter
- 1½ cups of unsweetened coconut shavings

Directions:
Directions:
1. Boil the dates in the water.
2. Mix the dry ingredients together.
3. Add the egg, vanilla, salt, and dates to the dry ingredients.
4. Mix well, pour into a cake pan, and bake at 350º F for 25 minutes.
5. While the cake bakes, mix all the ingredients for the icing together.
6. Spread the icing on the cake once it has cooled.
