1 cup sugar
3 T. butter
1 egg
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Boil a kettle of water.

Combine and mix sugar, butter and egg in a bowl.

Add cocoa to measuring cup and fill to 1 cup mark with boiling water.
Add to sugar mixture.

Sift flour with baking powder and add to bowl.

Mix baking soda with 1/2 c. boiling water and add to bowl.
Mix well to combine. The batter will be runny.

Pour batter into a parchment lined or greased and floured 9 inch cake pan.

Bake at 350 for apprx. 25 minutes.

This recipe can be easily doubled to make a layer cake.
