Ingredients:  
2 tablespoons Olive oil
2- 3 cloves of chopped garlic; Chopped onion
2 large cans tomato puree
2 large cans of tomatoes (you can use chopped tomatoes; she used to seed the whole cooked tomatoes)
1 small can of tomatoes paste
1 tbs of dry Italian seasoning or a combination of fresh chopped parsley, oregano, rosemary & basil
Splash of red wine (a healthy one); 1 bay leaf

Directions:

Saute onion and garlic in a large pot.
When translucent, add all of the other ingredients and cook slowly for several hours.
As it cooks done, you may need to add a little water or tomato juice.

A happy memory was that every Christmas eve and Easter (good Friday) Grandma Mary always made kluski noodles (they still sell them) and false sauce (a marinara). I wish I could do more but no one wrote down recipes. It was always a pinch of this, a pinch of that. Grandma D always adjusted to ingredients available.
