Chocolate Cake

2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/8 tsp salt
½ cup oil
1 stick butter
1 cup water
4 Tablespoons cocoa
½ cup buttermilk
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 350º. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, and salt.
2. In a medium saucepan, mix oil, butter, water, and cocoa. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then remove from heat.
3. Pour hot mixture over flour mixture and mix together. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla. Mix well.
4. Pour into an ungreased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Pour frosting over cake while still warm.

¾ cup white sugar
3 TBSP evaporated milk
3 TBSP butter
¼ cup chocolate chips

1. Combine sugar, evaporated milk, and butter in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute, then turn off heat.
2. Add chocolate chips, stirring until melted.
3. Frost cake immediately or the frosting will harden.
