1 cup self-raising flour
1/2 cup self raising cornmeal
1/2 tsp salt
1tablespoon sugar
1 egg slightly beaten
1 cup buttermilk

Optional
1 to 2 tsp green onion minced

Directions:
Directions:
Combine cornmeal and flour with salt and sugar. Blend in the egg and add enough buttermilk to make a thick batter that will drop slowly but easily from spoon.

Drop into fat 375 degrees at least 3 inches deep

Fry unti golden brown and drain on paper towel Keep in a warm oven until ready to serve. Oven at 150

Doris got recipes from Aunt Hazel and made at home did not taste right. Sand was in the kitchen while Aunt Hazle made them. And she asked Mom why she did not add sugar. Mm added sugar and then it tasted right.
