1 cup butter or margarine
⅔ cup shortening
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground all-spice
¼ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp, vanilla extract
⅔ cup sugar
2 ⅓ cup light brown sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup chopped nuts
“1 ½ cup” (no ingredient)
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Blend together the first 8 ingredients
Gradually mix in white and brown sugars.
Beat in eggs, one at a time
Stir in next ingredients.
Gradually stir in flour.
Drop tablespoon portions of dough on lightly greased cookie sheets,
2 inches apart Bake in preheated oven at 350 F for 10 minutes or until lightly browned around the edge. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet, then place on cookie rack to finish cooling.
Store air-tight.
