Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups half-and-half cream
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients, stirring to dissolve sugar completely.

Fill cylinder of ice cream maker no more than two-thirds full; put in the paddle and lid.

Place in the freezer bucket and layer with ice and rock salt. Turn on the machine and churn until the paddle can’t move anymore.

Unplug and remove the paddle, taking care no salt or water get into the ice cream.

Leave the canister in the ice and place the lid back on the churned ice cream. Place a heavy towel over the top to insulate ( grandmother used an old throw rug) and allow the ice cream to “ripen”.
