2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1Cup Butter (decrease by one tablespoon if shortening is used)
5 Eggs
1 2/3 Cups Sifted Sugar or Sugar Free Substitute
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Add another teaspoon vanilla if Sugar Free Substitute was used

Soft flour, measure and soft again five times. Cream butter, add sugar and beat until no sugar grains appear. Then add one egg and beat until no one egg can be seen; add another egg proceed as before. When the last egg has been added, beat long and hard. Add the flour, beat and when it becomes a creamy mass, add vanilla. Put in greased and floured 9-inch tube. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour, or until done.

If using Sugar Free Substitute, bake on 250 degrees.
