Chuck Roast with Dumplings Recipe

c.wine vinegar
tsp. mixed pickling spice
1 or 2 onions, quartered
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
tsp. pepper
c. water
1 3-4 lb lean beef roast
1 tsp. sugar
1 lb. can tomatoes
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tube refrigerated biscuits (10)
1 tbsp. snipped parsley

Trim fat from roast. In Dutch oven or large skillet, slowly brown meat on all sides in hot shortening. Add next 8 ingredients, cover and cook slowly 2-2 hours - or until meat is tender. Place biscuits on meat and sprinkle with parsley. Cover tightly and steam 15 minutes or until biscuits are done. Remove meat and dumplings to a warm plaatter and matke gravey if desired.
