2 ¼ cup flour
1 ½ cup sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa
½ cup margarine
2 eggs, beaten
2 oz red food coloring
1 tsp real vanilla extract
½ tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk, divided
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinegar

Frosting:
3 Tbsp flour
3 Tbsp whole milk
1 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup butter

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare a 9 x 13 or 2 round cake pans by greasing well and flouring with cocoa.

Sift together flour, sugar, and cocoa; cream in margarine. Add coloring, vanilla, 2/3 cup of buttermilk, and salt. Add eggs and remaining milk. Beat for one minute on low speed. Mix soda and vinegar in small bowl; add to batter and mix well. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

For frosting combine flour and milk; cook until thick and cool. Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Blend with milk and flour mixture. Frost cooled cake. (Increase frosting recipe by half if doing layered cake.)
