1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs - beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
Directions:
Directions:
Blend shortening with sugar, add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Knead dough. Separate into 3 rolls. Roll each on wax paper (2 pieces of wax paper). Fill with filling and roll up. Freeze. Bake at 425º for 10-15 minutes.

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. warm water
1 c. nuts - chopped fine

Cut dates and add remaining ingredients. Cook over low flame until smooth.
