½ c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 - 1 oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
½ c. sifted all purpose flour
½ c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Blend in chocolate. Stir in flour and nuts. Bake in greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool. Cut into 16 squares.

I usually substitute the chocolate squares with 6 T. cocoa powder and 2 T. melted Butter.
