2¼ C flour
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 C shortening
¾ C sugar (granulated)
¾ C sugar (brown, firmly-packed)
1 t vanilla
½ t water
2 eggs
2 C Nestle' semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels (12 oz pkg.)
1 C nuts (coarsely-chopped) (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Sift together flour baking soda, and salt and set aside.
Combine softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and water.
Beat until creamy.
Beat in eggs
Add flour mixture and mix well
Stir in chocolate and nuts
Drop by well-rounded half teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375º for 10- 12 minutes

VRIATIONS

1. omit nus
2. add 2 cups chopped dates
3. add 2 cups raisins
