1 cup butter
1 cup onion, chopped
1 quart celery, chopped
2 quarts bread crumbs
2 quarts cornbread, crumbled
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon marjoram
1/4 teaspoon sage
2 cups chicken broth (Maybe more)
4 eggs
2 cups water

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the onions and celery in butter over low heat until soft, but not browned. Crumble bread and cornbread in a large bowl. Blend in seasonings. Add onions and celery. Add broth, eggs and water mixing well. Add more seasonings if desired. Add more broth if mixture is too dry. Bake at 400 for one hour or until set and browned.

My grandmother Thomas gave me a Progressive Farmer cookbook for Christmas the year I married Tim. It has basic old fashioned cooking in it and I still use it although it is falling apart. This recipe came from that and is the best dressing ever!
