¼ c. butter or margarine, softened
¼ c. crisco
¼ c. brown sugar, packed tightly,
1 egg with yolk and white separated
½ t. vanilla
1 c. flour
¼ t. salt
crushed or finely chopped nuts

maraschino cherries for top of cookie after coming out of oven
Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, crisco, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together. Shape in balls, Beat egg whites slightly. Dip ball into egg white and roll into nuts. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Put in center of oven. Bake 10 minutes. Remove. Push in cherries. Cool a little before removing from cookie sheet.
