2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
16 oz. can pumpkin
2/3 c. water
3 1/3 c. flour
4 eggs
1/2 t. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
1 1/4 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. cloves
2/3 c. chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
2/3 c. rainsins or dates

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add everything except nuts and raisins and combine well. Stir in nuts and raisins. Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for about 1 hour. Test with a toothpick.

This makes 2 really big loaves. If you double the recipe, use 5 loaf pans.
