1 package chopped dates
1 tbsp butter
1½ cups flour
1 tsp lemon flavoring
1 cup chopped pecans
½ tsp salt
1 egg
1 tsp soda
1 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve soda in the boiling water and pour over the dates. Let it cool. Mix butter and sugar. Beat in egg and water from dates. Beat in flour until smooth. Stir in lemon flavoring, dates, and nuts. Bake 325º for one hour.

Nabisco’s date packing plant in Woodbury furnished Gramps with dates often. This was one way to utilize them.
