Ingredients:  
1/2 Cup shortening
1 Cup sugar
2 eggs
1 ¾ Cup sifted flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 Cup sweetened applesauce
1/2 Cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Stir to shortening often
gradually add sugar, creaming until light, add eggs.
Beat until light and fluffy.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce
beating after each addition.
Stir in nuts. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan.
Bake in 350° for approx. 1 hour.
Cool in pan 10 minutes.
Remove and place on cooling rack.
While still warm, top with sugar glaze (mix ½ cup confectioners sugar and 1 Tbsp water).
