1 cup shortening
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup sour milk
2 eggs
5 cups flour
1 pinch of salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 juice and rind of an orange

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and blend in sugar; add eggs. Sift together, flour and other dry ingredients. Alternately add milk and dry ingredients till blended well. Mix in juice and rind of orange. Make batter stiff enough to drop by spoonful's onto greased baking sheets. Bake in hot oven, about 400*. Ice while hot.

Icing:
1 box powdered sugar
1 Tablespoon butter
juice and rind of on orange
Blend together
