2-3 large turnips
3-4 large carrots
1 onion
3-4 large potatoes
2-3 ears corn
2 cups cauliflower
1 squash (if available)
smoked sausage (sliced) (optional)
shrimp (shelled) (optional)
butter
salt & pepper to taste
green or red bell pepper (optional)

Directions:
Cut ingredients into large chunks. Place in heavy duty foil in a baking dish. Add butter and seasoning. Close the foil and bake in 350º oven for 1-2 hours.

They call it a “bake” in Australia – it’s mixed vegetables baked in an oven or the “barby” – a staple in the Outback. They eat a lot of turnips and this is a favorite turnip dish.
