3 oz tequila
2 cups ice in blender
1 oz Gran Marnier
1 oz Cointreau
sugar
fresh lime juice

Blend. Rub a wedge of lime on the rim of the glass then upend it and dip the rim in kosher or coarse salt. Pour the Margarita carefully into the glass (avoiding the salt rim). Serve.

This is the original recipe for this drink – before it became Americanized. Cointreau is an orange-flavored triple sec liqueur produced in France.
