2-3 c. crumbled, unfrosted spice cake, muffins or gingerbread, divided
15 oz. can solid-pack pumpkin
2 1/2 c. cold milk
2 packages (3.4 oz. each) instant butterscotch pudding mix
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. ginger
1/4 t. allspice
2 c. whipping cream

Directions:

Set aside 1/4 c. of cake crumbs for topping. Divide remaining crumbs into 4 portions; sprinkle one portion into a trifle bowl (or 3 qt. serving bowl.)

In a lage mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, milk, pudding mixes and spices, mix until smooth. Spoon half into the serving bowl. Sprinkle with a second portion of crumbs.

Beat cream until stiff; spoon half into bowl. Sprinkle with a third portion of crumbs. Top with the remaining pumpkin mixture, then last portion of crumbs and remaining whipped cream.

Sprinkle with the reserved crumbs. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
