"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

¾ stick of butter
1 cap vanilla
1 c. walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
In medium sauce pan stir in 2 c sugar and 2 – 2 ½ Tbsp. cocoa. Stir until well mixed NO FLAME. Add evaporated milk and stir until all sugar is dissolved (about 10-15 minutes). Turn on flame to low to dissolve rest of sugar (15-20 minutes). Add ¾ stick butter stir until melted. Turn up flame to high stirring constantly until mixture boils and rises. Let the mixture boil until it drops back down in the pan. Turn heat down to medium low keep stirring until thick (about 15-20 minutes). Check for set up on butter greased saucer by stirring a spoonful onto the saucer. The mixture needs to look light in color not like taffy. When it sets up on saucer add a cap full of vanilla to the mixture in pan. Stir and remove from fire. Whip mixture VERY HARD until very thick. Add nuts and stir until well covered. Pour in greased pan and let cool for about 20-30 minutes. Cut in squares.

Personal Notes:
*note* this recipe is an old family recipe and is very hard to make and perfect. It has to be timed perfectly. If timed too soon it will be chewy if timed too late it will be gritty. This works best on a gas stove.
