5 egg whites
1 stick butter
2 c sugar
½ c Crisco oil
5 egg yolks
1 c buttermilk
1 c black walnuts
1 tsp vanilla
1 c flake coconut
2 c flour
½ tsp baking soda if you use self rising flour or
1 tsp baking soda if you use plain flour

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Stiffly beat egg whites and set aside.
3. Beat butter, Crisco and sugar until smooth.
4. Add egg yolks and blend well.
5. Add flour and baking soda to cream mixture.
6. Add buttermilk, walnuts, vanilla and coconut to mixture.
7. Fold in egg whites.
8. Pour mixture into greased cake pan.
9. Bake for 30 min in layered pans (or 325º for 1 hr 15 min in sheet cake pan).
