3¼ c flour
¾ tsp soda
¾ tsp salt
1½ c shortening
1½ c sugar
2 small/medium eggs
1½ tsp vanilla
3½ Tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients (or whisk if presifted flour).
2. In a separate bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
3. Add eggs, vanilla, and milk.
4. Blend in dry ingredients.
5. Chill at least an hour or overnight.

To bake:
6. Preheat oven to 350º.
7. Using ⅓ of dough at a time (leave the remaining chilled for easier handling), form into 1" balls, place on parchment-covered cookie sheet, and flatten with a glass dipped in sugar.
8. Bake about 14 minutes. May be iced.
