Beyond the ingredients, there’s no direction on how to make them.

She would roll the dough out thinly and use a sharp knife to cut it into strips and lay the strips out to dry on a giant wooden cutting board under her bed until it was time to prepare them. No one knows why she stowed them under her bed, covered with a clean muslin cloth. Maybe it was to make room in the kitchen.

She would boil a chuck roast and make a savory broth (adding more broth as needed) remove and shred the beef after it cooked.

She would then cook the noodles in the broth and add the beef, salt, pepper and serve in bowls over mashed potatoes. She also used chicken.

Feasting on Grandma Hall's noodles, and afterwards a slice of her homemade pie is one of my happiest memories. It truly was a meal made with love.
