Ingredients:
Ingredients:
SCONES:
2 cups Flour
1/3 cup + 1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cups heavy cream
1 Tbl grated lemon or orange peel (make some extra if using glaze)
1/2 cup chopped dried fruit (optional)

GLAZE:
2 cups powdered sugar
4-6 Tablespoon lemon or orange juice
1 teaspoon grated peel

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

Whisk dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Add cream, zest and dried fruit.

Mix with fork, spatula or wooden spoon until dry ingredients are moistened. Gather the dough into a ball and knead it gently against the side of the bowl 5-10 times, turning and pressing any loose pieces into the dough each time.

Transfer to a lightly floured surface and pat into an 8” circle. (To make this easy, I line an 8" cake pan with plastic wrap and press the dough into it, then flip onto cutting surface)

Cut into 8 wedges. Place 1” apart on a baking sheet and brush tops with 2-3 teaspoons cream. Bake 12-15 minutes. Meanwhile, combine glaze ingredients.

Let scones cool for about 6 minutes, then spoon and smooth glaze over the tops. Press toasted slivered almonds on top if desired.
