1 1/2 C. hot applesauce with 2 Tbsp soda added to the sauce
1/2 c shortening
3 c flour
1 c currents
1 c dates, chopped
1 c walnuts, chopped
1 c sugar
1 c of raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 c walnuts, chopped
2 eggs
Candied maraschino cherries, as desired
1/3 c Brandy

Mix in a bowl and bake at 325 for 1 hour in a greased angel food cake or tube pan.
