½ C shortening
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda
½ C boiling water
1 C sugar
1½ C flour
½ tsp salt
1 egg
½ C cocoa
½ C buttermilk or sour milk
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, stir in boiling water. Blend well, batter will be runny.

Fill greased muffin cups or paper lined muffin cups with ¼-½ C batter. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
