Cake:
1 C chopped dates
2 1/2 C A/P flour, divided
1 C soft buttermilk
1 C sugar
2 eggs
1/2 C grated orange peel
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 C buttermilk
1 C chopped pecans

Glaze:
1 c. orange juice
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. orange peel

Cake:

Toss dates in flour and set aside. Cream butter, sugar until fluffy and add eggs beating well. Stir in peel. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk. Stir in dates and nuts. Transfer to greased and floured 10 “ tube pan and bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes.

Glaze:

Bring glaze to a boil and cool for 30 minutes. Put cake on serving plate and poke holes is top and drizzle glaze. Dollop with whipped cream before serving
