Filling:
1 cup milk
4 T flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup Crisco

Directions:
Bake one cake as directed in a 9x13 pan. Use a chocolate cake mix for Ding-Dong cake or a white or yellow cake for Twinkie cake. Cool well. Split lengthways. (I take a piece of thread and use it to cut the cake in half.)
Cook the milk and flour until thick. Cool well in the refrigerator. Beat sugar and Crisco. Beat for 4 minutes: add the cooled mixture and beat for another 4 minutes. Spread filling on bottom half of cooled cake. Carefully flip the other half back on top of the filling and press down gently.
Ice the Ding-Dong cake with chocolate and Twinkie cake with white icing. Some like to put banana flavoring in the filling of the Twinkie cake.
