1 1/2 cup shortening or butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
4 1/4 cups flour
4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, brown sugar, molasses, and eggs. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. If using butter, dough should be chilled before baking. Shape into balls and roll into sugar. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes.
