¾ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
⅓ cup regular Crisco
¾ cup granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease a 9" round cake pan with Crisco. Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt together. Cream Crisco and sugar until blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating on medium speed of electric mixer until light and creamy. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and vanilla to creamed mixture, mixing lightly after each addition. Spread evenly in greased pan. Bake at 350º F for 35 - 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan; cool completely.
Filling: Reserve some strawberries for garnish; slice the rest. Beat cream and icing sugar to stiff peaks. Cut cake in half horizontally. If desired, brush cut surfaces with liqueur. Place bottom cake layer on plate. Cover with half of whipped cream and half of sliced berries. Repeat with remaining cake, cream and berries. Garnish with reserved berries. Chill until serving.
