Ingredients: 6 cups flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tsp allspice 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp cloves 1 tsp cinnamon 1 cup brown suger 1/3 c shortening 1 1/2 c dark molasses 2/3 c cold water

Directions: |
Directions:Mix all the dry ingredients into a flour sifter (or fine strainer) and sift them into a bowl. Set aside.
Measure brown sugar and add shortening in separate bowl. Mix until creamy. Then add molasses and water. Stir to mix well. Add dry ingredients one cup at a time until all mixed in. Cover with large plate and chill dough for 1 hour to make it easier to handle. Preheat oven to 350 Roll a quarter of the dough out on a floured surface ( make sure to flour your rolling pin) Keep it about 1/2 inch thick cut out circles or shapes with cookies cutter and leave at least 2 inches between cookies on pan (they will get puffy and big as they bake) Bake for 12-15 minutes |
