2 to 3 pounds of snapped green beans
4 or 5 slices of salt pork
salt and pepper

Fry the salt pork slices in a large pot. Fill with leans and cover with water. Add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer until beans are tender about 1 hour.

This is how my mother Marie Burner cooked her beans. It has been a favorite of our family's for many years. It is my most requested way to cook beans for our friends. It is always requested at Thanksgiving when we are sharing with friends. It is a true Southern Recipe! Enjoy!
