2 c. water
1½ c. sugar
4 oranges, sliced (or 5-6 clementines)
2 lemons, sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
12 whole cloves
12 allspice berries
2 (750 ml.) bottles or 1 (1.5 liters) bottle dry red wine

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 7 ingredients in a Dutch oven over medium heat; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes.

Add wine; simmer 10 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire mesh strainer and funnel into a bottle.

Used Gallo's 'Hearty Burgundy' wine in past, but difficult to find. Barefoot 'Sweet Red' works great!

Best served warm. Keeps 5-7 days in the refrigerator.

Wine taste sweeter the next day, so don't be tempted to add more sugar than whats called for.
