Mix of root vegetables, peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks: beets, parsnips, carrots, rutabaga, turnip, sweet potato

Solid cooking fat like lard or duck fat works best

Preheat to oven to 400º F. Coat veg with fat and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 45 min to 1 hour, turning at least once while cooking.

If you want to make them the Voigt way, first you have Bill raise a pig. Virgil will plant 2 giant gardens that will produce way more vegetables than you need - feed that to the pig. Virgil will get Chuck or some other old guy to come over and make the lard. It does take a little more time, but produces high-quality lard!
