1/2 c. shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco®)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. finely chopped apples (tart are better than sweet)
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. walnuts (or your favorite)
2 c. flour

Mix all ingredients together. Drop on cookie sheet and bake at 350º for 11-14 minutes.
