Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 qt. buttermilk warmed (110º - 115º)
2 T. yeast
2 T. sugar
2 eggs
6 T. oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
6-8 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Combine yeast, sugar with buttermilk. Add eggs, oil & salt. In a separate bowl combine 6 cups flour, baking powder and baking soda. Sift the flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture. Mix well with stand mixer. Add more flour if needed, dough will be soft. Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Punch down and refrigerate until use.

Heat oil to 325º-350º. Oil needs to be at least 1 inch deep. I use an electric frying pan to control the temperature and allow the proper depth of oil.

Divide dough into sections, roll out, Use a pizza cutter to cut into pieces (the pieces should be about 3 X 5 give or take). Place the dough in the oil, cooking until golden brown, flipping part way through.

Serve hot with homemade honey butter, or butter and powdered sugar.
