Mix:
¾ cup shortening (can use part butter)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp lemon or 1 tsp vanilla

Then add:
2½ cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Chill dough for at least 1 hour. Roll out on a floured surface. Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes. Bake at 375º for 6-8 minutes.

For excellent decorating paints:

Mix
1 egg yolk
1 tsp food coloring

Paint on rolled out cookies before baking.
