Filling:
½ cup brown sugar
2 T flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 T butter
½ cup chopped nuts

Dough:

Cream together:
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup shortening

Then add
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 ½ cup sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add egg, then add rest of dough ingredients. Stir well. Put half of coffee cake dough in greased 8x8 pan. Put ½ of filling on top of dough, add rest of dough and sprinkle remainder on top. Bake at 325º for 35 minutes. (1 cup raw apples or blueberries can be added to batter and made into muffins.)
