Personal Notes:
These are rich, moist, flat cookies. Mrs. Green was the wife of Aaron's boss, on his first job as a farmhand on their dairy farm. She made full meals at lunchtime for her family and Aaron, the summer he worked there. After lunch Mr. Green always took a nap before returning to work. These cookies were one of his favorite desserts there.
