4 pounds short ribs
1 tablespoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
6 carrots cut into 1in pieces
2 cups onion

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat on all sides. Add seasonings and cover with water. Simmer covered for about 2 hours until the meat is tender. Add the onions and carrots and cook 20 minutes more.

Thicken the broth by adding a mixture of 2 Tbs flour and ¼ cup of water.
