¾ c. white sugar
¼ c. soft shortening
1 egg
½ c. milk
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
2 c. blueberries
optional- juice of ½ a lemon

Topping:
½ white sugar
⅓ c. flour
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ c. softened unsalted butter

Directions:

Batter:
Mix sugar and shortening together.
Add egg and milk.
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
Mix dry and wet ingredients; add blueberries and lemon juice, if using.

Topping:
Combine all ingredients.

Spread batter into a 9" greased pan. Sprinkle with the topping. Bake 375º for 40 minutes.
