1 cup shortening
½ cup sugar
1½ cup brown sugar (separated)
2 eggs separated yolk & white
1 tsp water
1 tsp vanilla
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 cups flour
chocolate chips and/or nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Slightly beat egg yolks and water. Cream together with shortnening, sugar, and ½ cup brown sugar and vanilla. Add dry ingredients to this to form a stiff dough. More flour may have to be added. Spread on a grease cookie sheet and sprinkle with chocolate chips or nuts. Beat egg whites till foamy and fold in 1 cup brown sugar and spread on top of chips.

Bake at 350º for 20-25 minutes.
Cut into pieces.
