Directions:
Combine butter and eggs and blend well. Add sugar, vanilla, and mix well until sugar breaks down. Combine flour and baking powder. Add 1 C of flour at a time until well blended. When dough becomes too sticky for beaters in mixer, remove and place on a surface to add and blend remaining flour by hand. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Roll in strands about pencil thick. Cut off pieces (Can be any length you like - usually cookies are about 2-3 inches long), and make a loop to braid two strands together. Brush cookies with egg white and roll in sesame seeds. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350º until lightly golden.

This recipe was a celebration of our, also, "Greek" heritage that Eleanor always included in the many cookies she baked at holidays. It is a Greek version of a biscotti coffee cookie.
